The 3 Hidden Reasons Why Most Diets Fail
May 27th, 2011 |
Reason #1: Failure to Setup a Support Structure
Ask yourself this question: Do the people you spend time with, either while at work or during personal time, share similar health goals and priorities with you? If the answer is no, you need to have a conversation with them to garner their support. If the people who you hang out with are constantly ask you to go out for drinks, watch sports and eat pizza, or other such activities, they are sabotaging your nutrition program
Don’t get me wrong, going out for the occasional drink, and having an appropriately planned cheat meal, should be a part of any good, sustainable nutrition program. However, if you are frequently hung over, missing meals, and eating outside of your plan, it’s going to crush your opportunity to reach your health and fitness goals.
Energie Trick – Before embarking on any nutrition program, have a conversation with your friends, family, and colleagues telling them you have a very important goal of improving your help, and that you need their support. Many people will ask what kind of diet you’re going to be using. My suggestion is don’t give them any details until you’ve started reaching some of your goals. They will be far more interested and supportive of your continued success this way.
Reason #2: You Associate Dieting / Nutrition with Something Negative
Before you read any further, get yourself a piece of paper and a pen, and make a pros versus cons list of your diet.
You must keep iterating on this list until the pros list becomes so compelling that the pleasure of following your diet outweighs the pain of quitting.
Until the pros list is this compelling, you are not likely to succeed on your nutrition program
Like drug addition, food addiction provides pleasure the outweighs the pain of quitting. Unfortunately, this means you will stay addicted until, in your own mind, the pain of continuing with your existing habits is greater than the pain of quitting.
If you want to succeed on your nutrition program, you have to learn to associate pleasure with results of following the program – the pleasure of losing fat, gaining muscle, appealing to the opposite sex, improving your overall health, increased longevity, etc. When these pleasures outweigh the pain of dieting, you will find far greater, and long term success on your new plan.
Reason #3: You Expect Miraculous Results
From TV infomercials, to the latest fitness rag (I mean magazine), we are constantly inundated with psychologically powerful advertisements of physique transformation obtained in almost no time, with minimal effort. Just pop this magic pill, or drink the latest juice extracted from a secret fruit only found 350 ft below the Antarctic ice, and you’ll look like your favorite athlete, actor / actress, fitness model, or bodybuilder.
***Buzzzz, sorry folks, but all of these results are bogus. The pictures and the results in the magazines are manufactured and heavily edited to make them seem real.
Of course, the proper regimen of nutrition (most important), exercise (second), and supplementation (third) will net you fantastic results in a reasonable time frame; however, you are going to HAVE to work at it.
“But what about the HCG Diet?” I’m want to dispel any misconceptions or myths that the HCG diet is healthy. Folks, you can not get enough nutrition in your body eating 500 – 800 calories per day, even if all you do is sleep 24 hours per day. If you actually want to be healthy, and perform well, the HCG diet is NOT going to work for you.
